Welcome to the Bog

On the first Friday of each month (at 1pm on EHFM), two travellers emerge from the mists to broadcast their findings from deep within the bog. From spiritual jazz and twisted bossa nova to folk revival and pagan boogie, music with the bog factor is strange, moody, cosmic and rooted in place.

Inspired by nature, folk and the neolithic, we take our name from the bogginess scale on walkhighlands.co.uk. They define level 5 as “It’s a swamp. Snorkel recommended”

Sophie and Emily in Albania

Sophie

A trans woman, engineer, hill-walker and bike-rider. She’s a fan of all things strange and funky - tunes, cheeses, jumpers, places. Sophie also brings the factoids to bog factor, so hold on to your bonnets because she will be telling you something about a peat cutting contraption.

Big on techy bits and DIY, she makes and fixes things. She even designed this beautiful website! We hope you are enjoying it. You can play with the suns on the homepage if you like.

You can send her an email or find her on Instagram.

Emily

A florist and artist from the Highlands, drawing inspiration from the wild and ever-changing Scottish landscape.

She works under the moniker Machair, a Gaelic word for the fertile, low-lying grassy plains found only on the exposed northwest shores of Scotland and Ireland, particularly in the Outer Hebrides.

You can view her work on Instagram and on her website.
